Foster Care in a Pandemic World
Audio Visual Material
Producer Hannah Adams explores how Covid-19 has impacted the foster care system in rural areas like eastern Kentucky. Foster parents talk about the increased challenges navigating an already overworked and complex foster care system. Problems include the suspension of home visits by social workers, the closing of courtrooms to adoption proceedings, and isolation for foster parents.
Produced as part of the series A Mask on the Mountains: Dimensions of Covid-19 in Appalachia, a project of Appalshop's Appalachian Media Institute.
