Description
Anne Lewis. 1985.

Artus Moser, "a Renaissance man of the mountains," was born in 1894, and grew up on the Biltmore Estate near Asheville, North Carolina, where his father was a forester. This program explores the richness and variety of his long life as an early collector of ballads for the Library of Congress, as a teacher, singer, storyteller, actor, painter, sculptor, gardener, naturalist, and husband and father. Artus Moser of Buckeye Cove combines family interviews, archival photographs and recordings, and Moser performing songs he collected to paint an appealing portrait of a unique collector and performer of North Carolina mountain music.
