Wisconsin native John McCutcheon (born August 14, 1952) is an American folk music singer and multi-instrumentalist who has produced over twenty-five albums since the 1970s. He is regarded as a master of the hammered dulcimer, and is also proficient on many other instruments including guitar, banjo, autoharp, mountain dulcimer, fiddle, and Jew's harp. McCutcheon was a founder of June Appal Recordings at Appalshop and was instrumental to the label's output in its early years. Rich Kirby, grandson of ballad singer Addie Graham, is a long-time WMMT and Appalshop employee. He has several June Appal Recordings releases, and contributed as a musician and producer to many others. Tommy Bledsoe grew up in Scott County, VA, where he learned to play guitar and banjo from many traditional musicians. He is a record producer and has recorded with Wry Straw, the Home Folks Band, Uncle Charlie Osborne, Rich Kirby, and his wife, Joy D’Elia. He has produced and performed on public television. Rich Kirby was born July 2, 1943 in Cynthian, KY. He plays banjo and fiddle and is a singer, storyteller and writer. He has produced albums for Appalshop's record label June Appal Recordings, including Been A Long Time Traveling with his ballad singer grandmother Addie Graham, and In the Land of Melody with Wade and Julia Mainer. Kirby also appears as a musician on numerous albums, including Hits from Home, and Twins with Tommy Bledsoe. He has served many posts, including station manager, at WMMT-FM at Appalshop in Whitesburg, KY. He lives in Dungannon, VA with his wife Beth.
