Description
Andy Cohen is president of the Beale Street Blues Society. He lives in Memphis. He was a longtime friend of Maxwell Street bluesman Blind Jim Brewer. Joe LaRose and Gary Hawk performed together in the band The Ragtime Sheiks, and then the Radio Aces, which was an old-time string band. They began playing with Andy Cohen in the Fall of 1978.

Recordings for JA027, Shuffle Rag, were recorded by engineers Jack Wright and Dudley Wilson at June Appal Studio, and all others with Chuck Ruby. The 1979 release was produced by John McCutcheon, and mixing provided by Jack Wright and John McCutcheon, and approved by Andy Cohen. Musicians included Andy Cohen, Rick Ruble on mandolin; Joe LaRose on banjo, guitar, vocals, mandolin, second guitar, and "Dan Sane" style guitar; and Gary Hawk on harp.

This audio collection consists of 1/2-inch production recordings, and vinyl masters.
