Earl Gilmore (1924-2000) was a lifelong resident of Clinchco in Dickenson County, Virginia and was a member of the A.M.E. Zion Methodist-Baptist Church. As a blues and gospel singer and piano player, Gilmore played and sung at many of the regional folk festivals including the Jubilee in Knoxville, Ivydale, Pipestem, the John Henry Memorial Festival all in West Virginia, as well as the national folk festival at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington.
Recordings for the 1977 release JA022, From the Depths of My Soul, were made by Jack Wright and Jeff Kiser, and produced and edited by Guy Carawan. Musicians included Earl Gilmore on vocals and piano, and Rupert Oysler on harmonica.
This audio collection consists of ¼-inch production masters, 1/2-inch recordings, vinyl production masters, preservation DVD-R and CD-R access copies.
