Guy Carawan (b. Los Angeles, California, United States, July 27, 1927) is an American folk musician and musicologist. He serves as music director and song leader for the Highlander Research and Education Center in New Market, Tennessee. Carawan is famous for introducing the protest song "We Shall Overcome" to the American Civil Rights Movement, by teaching it to the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee in 1960. Carawan sings and plays banjo, guitar, and hammered dulcimer. He frequently performs and records with his wife, singer Candie Carawan. Occasionally he is accompanied by their son Evan Carawan, who plays mandolin and hammered dulcimer. Carawan and his wife live in New Market, near the Highlander Center.

Recordings for the 1976 release JA021, Green Rocky Road, were recorded by Jack Wright and Jeff Kiser, and mixed by Jack Wright and Guy Carwan at June Appal Records in Whitesburg, Kentucky. "Ain't Goin' Home Soon" and "Eyes Are Blue" were recorded July 1973 in Jankowski Studio in Stuttgart, Germany. Musicians included Guy Carawan on vocals, guitar, hamer dulcimer, tin whistle and banjo; Bob Jordan on guitar, banjo, vocal harmony; Michael Ginsburg on tin whistle, flute and guitar; David Burns on fiddle; Rich Kirby on fiddle and box; and Jack Wright on jews harp.
