Collins and Effie Hollyfield moved from Greensboro, Alabama to Dunham, Kentucky in 1934. Collins worked for Consolidation Coal Company. After injuries forced him to retire from mine work he created a business selling popcorn from a truck to local residents. The couple raised 12 children in Dunham, where they lived for the remainder of their lives. Appalshop conducted an oral history interview with the couple in 1991.
