Description (The inaugural issue of Mountain Review, a literary magazine published by Appalshop. Contents include an introduction by Gurney Norman, articles, poems, photographs, original graphics. Authors include Rich Kirby, Ray Collins, Maxine Kenny, John Gaventa; photos by Earl Dotter.  Topics include Nimrod Workman, Chairmaker Dewey Thompson, and the relationship between Appalachian mines and Welsh mines. 

The cover design is an adaptation of a traditional quilt pattern called "Moon Over the Mountain."  The graphics contained in this issue of Mountain Review are also quilt patterns.)
