Abstract
This collection of tapes was donated and, for the most part, recorded by the musician and documentarian Alan Senauke. The cassettes themselves are wide-ranging and reflect Senauke’s position in traditional music as both a player and a listener; raw recordings of Senauke's visits to master old-time and Cajun musicians as well as unedited on-stage performances and radio shows abut Senauke’s own musical projects. Though they have little in common in their contents, together the tapes are an example of a bygone era in which the music one created and was influenced by was tangible and could be stored together in the same format, and in this case, the same box.
