John Verburg Oral History Collection
52 Audio cassettes
Scope and ContentsThis collection is comprised of 52 microcassettes and regular audiocassettes of oral histories focusing on the black experience in coal camps. The tapes date from early 1980s to early 2000s. The tapes were donated by John Verburg, a scholar in sociology of religion and community with a focus on Appalachia. Most tapes are archival originals; others are research copies made for Verburg from the collections at Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College.
