Welcome to the
Appalshop Archive
The Appalshop Archive contains the largest collection of Appalachian media in the world. Established in 2002 by filmmaker Elizabeth Barret (with the help of many others), the Archive's 30,000+ items document life in the region from the 1930s to the present day. While some items are currently inaccessible due to the July 2022 flooding of eastern Kentucky, or are simply still being processed, many items are available here to view or listen to digitally. We hope you will browse, discover and enjoy this rich record of Appalachia.
